80 Pentium Three Project
Wooden Computer Documentation
After weeks of planning and building the wooden computer, it is finally finished. The computer is consisted of all the computer parts to make a functioning computer. We designed it to be more conveinent by putting the mother board in the front so it is easier to plug in the keyboard, mouse, printer, etc. We also made the power supply face the front so again it would be easier to plug in. Origionaly the fan, speaker and switch were one unit. Because we turned the motherboard around, we needed to place the fan on the back. So we broke up this unit to put the fan on the back and the switch and the speaker we put on the front to make a "controll panel". Also we put the cd drive, hard drive, and floppy higher up and made them easy to replace. What we would do different next time while building the computer is to put more angle brackets on the base of the shelf to make it more sturdy for the CD drive, harddrive and floppy drive. Also we would not use a computer with a security RFID because we belive when you take it off the computer does not cooperate and it will not go into the bios. This was our problem Unfortunately we never installed an opperating system because it would never go in the bios. It would just go to a blank screen and made one long beep. We looked up beep sounds for Ibms and found out that my motherboard faild. We still don't know why. Anyway the rest of the computer is fine. We might only need to replace my mother board. We also tried to ground the motherboard to the power supply. Also we took out the battery to reset the bios. That didn't work and it just made it worse. Overall It is a good design but it doesn't work. Below there are some links of pictures of my partner and I building it and the finnished project.
